[31 October 2008] Senior Officers' Conference 2008

Senior Officers' Conference (SOC) 2008 with the theme "126 Years of Developing Sarawak" was held on 29-30 October 2008 at JKR Headquarters Wisma Saberkas Kuching. The function was officiated by Deputy Chief Minister (II) and attended by senior JKR staff from Headquarters and Divisional Offices. Seven papers were presented by speakers from various disciplines.

[12 November 2008]   Road Safety Audit Course

The Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM) will organize a five-day road safety audit course at JKR Headquarters Wisma Saberkas Kuching, tentatively during the first week of December 2008.  Detailed information on the course will be displayed in this news page in due course.

[24 November 2008]   IT Personnel Dialogue Session 2008

The annual dialogue session for departmental IT personnels will held at the IT Unit of JKR Headquarters in the first week of December 2008. IT Focal Person, ICT Security Officer (ICTSO) & ICT Administrator from all Divisions and Offices are nominated to attend the session organised by the Technical Management Branch.

[28 November 2008]   5S Day 2008

The Department is having its 5S Day today, with the theme "5S An Ideal Work Culture". The function will be held at Bilik Muhibbah, JKR Headquarters. Amongst other items in the agenda today are presentation of paper titled 'Amalan 5S Ke Arah Budaya Kerja Cemerlang' by officer from MPC, presentation of 5S Auditor's report and the announcement of winner Branches/Units of the recently conducted internal 5S audit.

The 5-day Road Safety Audit Course organised by The Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM) is being held today at Bilik Muhibbah JKR Headquarters Wisma Saberkas Kuching.

An intensive five-day ISO 9001:2000 series Lead Auditor Training Course is being held at the Resource Centre JKR Headquarters Wisma Saberkas Kuching today. Six JKR staff had been nominated to attend the training conducted by Moody International Certification (Malaysia).

[31 December 2008]  ISO Lead Auditor Certificate Presentation
A ceremony was held at Bilik Persahabatan JKR Headquarters today to present certificates to ten JKR staff who had completed the Moody International Certification ISO 9000:2000 Series Auditor/Lead Auditor Training Course in 2007 and qualified themselves to International Register Certificated Auditor(IRCA).
Another six JKR staff had also completed the second batch training this year, making JKR Sarawak the government agency with the most numbers of certified ISO Lead Auditors under ISO 9001:2000. These trained Lead Auditors are qualified and ready to provide MS ISO 9001:2000 QMS implementation and audit services to other government agencies, vendors or stakeholders.

(1) Workshop on Training Needs Analysis (TNA) by Centre for Modern Management (CMM), venue at Bilik Muhibbah JKR Headquarters, 3rd March - 5th March 2009;

(2) Internal Quality Audit ISO 9001:2000 by Quality Assurance and Quality Control Unit (QAC) of JKR Headquarters, venue at Bilik Mesyuarat Ixora JKR Sibu, 11th March - 12th March 2009;

(3) ISO 9001:2000 QMS Implementation - Awareness & Transition to ISO 9001:2008 by Quality Assurance and Quality Control Unit (QAC) of JKR Headquarters, venue at Bilik Muhibbah JKR Headquarters, 17th March - 18th March 2009

[25 March 2009]   Seminar on Design Innovation in 21st Century
A one-day seminar on Design Innovation in 21st Century will be held at Bilik Muhibbah of JKR Headquarters  tomorrow 26th March 2009.  It will be attended by participants from government agencies and private sectors.  Facilitators of the seminar are two Autodesk Certified Instructor for AutoCAD Map 3D,  Encik Noor Azhar and Encik Steven Lim.

The seminar will cover methods to modify civil engineering designs using AutoCAD functionality, import of  survey data, perform traverse or network adjustment, creation of surface and base plans, automated drafting and reports, controlled access to updated project data, 3D visualizations and digital models.

[5 May 2009]   ISO Internal Quality Audit 1/2009
As a mandatory requirement under ISO 9001:2000 certification, and for continual improvement on the effectiveness of the quality management system, JKR Sarawak is currently undergoing its annual internal ISO Quality Audit (IQA) to Headquarters and Divisional Offices by its team of internal lead auditors.

[16 June 2009]   Seminar on Guidelines for Road Drainage Design [CPD 8 Hours]
A two-day seminar on the Guidelines for Road Drainage Design will be held on 29-30 June 2009 at JKR Headquarters. This seminar which will be jointly organised by The Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM) and JKR Sarawak, aims to address the REAM Guidelines 3/2002 in details, the guidelines for road drainage including hydrological analysis, hydraulic design of culverts and hydraulic consideration in bridge design, surface drainage and subsoil drainage.

This seminar will also present the Guidelines for Road Drainage Design Volumes 2, 3 ,4 and 5 which were published in 2002 after presentation and discussion in the Fourth Malaysian Road Conference. The publication of Volume 1 of the guidelines followed in 2004 after it was tabled at the Fifth Malaysian Road Conference. The participants will get a better understanding and in depth knowledge on the application of the guidelines as the papers will be presented by the authors of these guidelines.

The organisers have invited local experts and authorities in the field of road design, construction and maintenance to share their knowledge and experiences with regards to drainage related issues and its importance in the panel discussion at the end of the two-day seminar.

[31 July 2009]   ISO External Audit Program
As part of the Department's continual improvement processes, and a mandatory requirement under the  ISO certification, JKR Sarawak will have its external ISO audit by external independent auditor 10-13 August 2009.

The objective of this Audit is to determine the conformance of JKR system and practices to meet requirements for Continued Certification and Transition to ISO 9001:2008 Management System Standard. The aim of this external audit is to determine whether JKR Sarawak's quality management system is in compliance with its quality planning, product realisation planning, quality standard, customer requirements and ISO 9001:2008 requirements.

The scope of this audit includes project management; production, storage and distribution of potable water, management of ferry services and others, and shall cover JKR Headquarters, JKR Bahagian Sri Aman, JKR Bahagian Kapit, JKR Bahagian Mukah and JKR Bahagian Limbang.
